Living at a yoga ashram, I had the privilege of studying eastern astrology and acquired certification in Jyotish, the Hindu term for Eastern or Vedic astrology. The difference between Eastern and Western astrology is that Vedic astrology uses the distance between the moon and the geographic coordinates of your place of birth as a point of references for all mathematical calculations and western astrology uses the sun. Spiritually, this equates to western astrology being a more accurate reflection of the psychology of our ego structures in this reincarnation, whereas eastern astrology is more in harmony with our soul purpose and higher selves. Both are important.

December 2021 Astrological Events of Significance
On December 21, 2021, the northern hemisphere will he hit with an energetic tidal wave. We will suffer with just 8 hours of sunlight because the winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, but not in vain. Throughout history, the tremendous energy released in space by the particular configuration of the earth, moon, and sun and the gravitational pull this particular alignment magnetizes here on earth has been associated with gods and goddesses of light being born throughout the world and throughout time.
Like eclipses, there is a window of time before and after the achieved geometric configuration of the earth, moon, and sun in space that will take place on December 21, 2021 in which the magnetic pull will start to exert its influence here on earth. It’s not magic- it’s physics.
The Geminid Meteor Shower
According to Bill Cooke, lead for NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office, located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama: “Rich in green-colored fireballs, the Geminids are the only shower I will brave cold December nights to see,”
Every December we have a chance to see one of our favorite meteor showers – the Geminids. In 2021, the shower is active until Dec. 17 and will peak on the night of Dec. 13 according to NASA.
Some important beings in history born around the solstice: Jesus Christ, Horus, Amaterasu, Baldur, Lucia. If you are expecting within a 2 week window of the solstice, it’s important to note that on December 13-14, the Geminid meteor shower just infiltrated earth’s orbit, bringing tremendous amounts of ‘foreign’ energy into that of our present energetic balance on the planet. Some experts believe that the soul of the child in the womb enters close to delivery.
Stepping into the Age of Aquarius: December 2020 Flashback
Parents everywhere are starting to notice a different dynamic with their children compared to when we grew up. Parents are noticing that when they make a request, if the request is not stated explicitly and logically, no matter how loving and doting the parent, the child will not comply.
According to Sadhguru, the reason for this is because for the first time in the history of humanity, the human intellect has become so highly cultivated intellect on such a mass scale. This behavior in your children - the phrases they use in their conversations with you that you have no idea where they heard the words from- it is a reflection of the thoughts and words of the collective consciousness. A spiritual awakening, I have learned, is a culmination of our individual life experiences that have allowed us to consciously adopt a mindset of lifelong learning, in the context of a desire to always be a better version of ourselves. The spiritual journey is the life path that we then choose to follow as we strive to synchronize our choices and actions with our individual inner voice and conscience.
In general, we as individuals are not in tune with ourselves and our old way of thinking serves to create tension on every level. Mass consciousness is picking up on this and this discord is reflected on a larger scale by the very disharmonic state of our world right now (ie. massive earthquakes, the global pandemic and a crippled economy). From an astrological perspective, we are transitioning through a massive shift from being earthbound and materialistic into an information age characterized by the pursuit of knowledge and a deeper understanding of ourselves and of the Universe. This can be seen by the rapid emergence of newer technology-when driving I sometimes think to myself, “How did I ever arrive at my destination without the help of satellites and GPS?”
On December 21, 2020, the shift of the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in our solar system out of Capricorn, an earth sign associated with materialism, into Aquarius, an air sign, heralded our entry as a planet and as a species into the Age of Aquarius. The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction essentially means a very close physical approximation of the two planets in space.
For this extremely close proximity of these two planets to occur in a different spatial location, the portion of the solar system designated as “Aquarius” as defined by its definitive constellations of stars, is a very rare occurrence. This is the first time this has happened in 26,000 years.
Saturn and Jupiter come together once every 20 years, and for the last 200 years, these two planets, Saturn (being the planet of learning from your mistakes and applying pressure to a situation in the tradition of Vedic or eastern astrology) and Jupiter (the planet of scholarly education) have been coming together in an earth sign, and from that the industrial age with its massive expansion of material assets was borne. Now, with the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction entering an air sign, we can expect a revolutionary shift in thinking that involves an expansion on the mental level and serves to provide us with a new understanding of the one new reality, should we choose to accept it.
For the next 20 years, the energy stemming from the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction will be housed and influenced by Aquarius energy, a humanitarian sign. We have already seen in our society the dramatic push for equality and human rights, a concept that was prominently featured in the recent United States elections. Deepak Chopra states, “Spirituality is meant to take us beyond our tribal identity into a domain of awareness that is more universal”. Aquarius energy is about spiritual evolution, community and living in harmony. The age of Aquarius is an opportunity to live in peace and abundance and a world in which all of our needs are met. Some would say that this is the opportunity to create heaven on earth.
This sounds great in theory and would be, if it were to be implemented without the influence of greed, power and ego. Unfortunately, like all things, there is always a negative for every positive - just as without the color black there could be no white. The downside to Aquarius energy is totalitarianism, fascism, communism, socialism, and censorship of free speech (as was just done by the big tech companies of Silicon Valley)- these are all modes of controlling the community by those in power. We must remind ourselves that marginalizing those with dissenting opinions into conformity is never okay. The downsides of this new era come from elitism and arrogance and ego, and we as a society must be mindful that our individual rights as citizens are not compromised for a theoretically “greater good”.
As Deepak Chopra states, “Enlightened leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology but as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused attention”. Right now, we as a society are splitting into two groups. Some people are staying in that fear based way of thinking dominated by the first three (the lower) chakras and creating a world that is very controlled and involves people following orders and putting aside the free will of the individuals that make up society.
On the opposite end, there are some of us who are seeing that by transcending the earthly aspects of the first 3 chakras characterized by fear, survival, greed, desire, and ego, we are able to create our own reality and take responsibility for our thoughts and actions borne of our own conscience and free will and approach life from a place of compassion, unity, and empathy. It is important for us as a society to at least be aware that this is happening, and to be aware that to look down upon someone of a different paradigm of thinking, irregardless of which of the two groups you belong to, is actually serving to keep you in an ego centered and elitist mode of thinking that is disharmonic from the state of abundance that the Age of Aquarius gives us the opportunity to achieve.
The Winter Solstice: How to Create Your Personal Ceremony
Conscious efforts to harness the energy of this window in time with personal rituals and intentions would have the maximal effect 3 days before and 3 days after the solstice, with the solstice being the day offering the greatest probability of effect on your ability to manifest.
How to perform a personal ritual during the solstice? The theme is GREEN, NATURE, Mother Earth. To create a personal ceremony, meditate on your intention and ask yourself why you would like to manifest that desired outcome in your vision. Pay attention to how this makes you feel. Then, because it is the winter solstice, try to integrate one of these activities into some physical expression of the outcome you want to manifest coupled with gratitude to nature and Mother Earth:

- Exchange Nature-Based Gifts. ...
- Give Back to Nature. ...
- Celebrate in Candlelight. ...

Understanding the concept of yin and yang is important when you sit down to meditate during the solstice. Yang can be thought of as male energy and Yin as female energy. All humans and all living creatures have both Yin and Yang in different proportions. Finding balance between these energies is an important part of health, as well as overall wellbeing.
Yin Yang and Winter Solstice
A way to conceptualize Yin and Yang is from the saying, “think before you speak”. In this maxim, if speaking is Yang, then thinking is Yin. Another way to conceptualize Yin is to think of HER as winter energy-a time and space of valuable reflection, emotional processing, and inward cultivation. Like most women, (our right brain included) Yin usually works behind the scenes:

Because of the maxim (out of sight, out of mind) - we often forget about the Yin slaving away in the kitchen and we forget she has basic self care needs too, just like the rest of us. If we really spend time to nourish our Yin resources, then our Yang side will greatly benefit as well.

According to Pulastya, which translates to pull slowly:
Lord Brahma, the embodiment of LV, has a life span of 100 years.
‘Par” = LB’s life span = 100 years
“Parardha” = 50 years
‘Kashtha’= 15 nimesha
kala= 30 kashtas’muhurta = 30 kalas
30 muhurtas = one human day and one human night
One human month = 30 human days and 30 human nights
6 human months make an Ayan
One year = 2 Ryan’s
These two “ayans” are also known as dakshinayan and uttarayan
Dakshinayan = night time in heaven
Uttarayan = day time in heaven

4 yugas = 12,000 years of the deities
The 4 yugas occur in cyclic order

A Brahma’s day consisted of one-thousand such ‘chaturyugas’
14 Manu appear during this whole period of 1000 chaturgas or in other words, a day of lord brahma
Each “mandator” is named after Manu and is equivalent to one human incarnation
Significant of 71 Chaturyugas: has it’s own Indra, Saptarishis, and other deities.
This way, each Manavatar is equivalent to 30,67,20,000 years
on the basis of years of this world , a brahma’s day is equivalent to 30,67,20,000 x 14 - 4,29,40,80,000 years
This is the period after which a Brahma’s day is over and a deluge takes place when all the three world become devoid of life due to unbearable heat. Lord Brahma then takes rest for the same period (4,29,40,80,000 years) which is his night
Creation of the 4 Worlds
According to the Padma Purana, after the night is over, Lord brahma again commences his creation. So this process continues for the whole period of brahma’s life span, ie 100 years. Bheeshma requested Sage Pilastya to describe how Lord Brahma created life in the beginning of the present Kalpa.
Pulastya replied : at the end of the previous kappa when Lord Brahma awakened from his sleep, hhhe found the whole earth submerged in water. He meditated on the Lord Vishnu, who took the incarnation of ‘Varah’ and retrieved the earth and established it in its original position,

Lord Brahma then created all 4 worlds:

Bhuvarloka
Swargloka
Maharloka
When Do Humans Reincarnate?
According to Vedic philosophy:
We go through 8.4 million births (84 lacs or lakhs) before becoming human.
Number of births and importance of human birth
In the eighty four lacs of bodies of creatures one does not acquire true knowledge anywhere unless one is born as a man.
Here, after thousands of crores of births a creature obtains human form only sometime due to aggregate of virtue.
Having obtained a rare human form he should endeavour for moksha. If he does not endeavour for it, there can be no greater sinner in the world.
Born in the most beautiful human form he incurs the sin of slaying a Brahmin if he neglects his self.
Without human body it is not possible to obtain the supreme goal. One should be, therefore, very cautious to guard wealth in the form of his body and perform good actions.
